10/26/11 - Day Two

Starting off today, we got into another group meeting, where we discussed several items.  We discussed and agreed to an IP range for each of our servers and clients, along with agreeing to use Debian for our Zimbra servers, and using Thunderbird as our email client.

Both the Untangle group and the client group broke off into teams, and Austin and Ron went to their respective groups.  The Untangle to continue to discuss and work on the servers, and the client group broke off to discuss how to configure the Windows 7 clients to automatically connect to the network they're on, without having to switch configurations when going back and forth between the two classes.  Kris began to work with the Zimbra server team to set up his server as well.

While others were setting up servers, we went around and labeled our cables in order to ensure there would be no mix-ups.

The trixbox group met and agreed to install their server on Monday, while running a rough install today and successfully connecting to the interface through a client.  They will do research over the weekend on setting up and keeping a secure server.

During the LAMP team meeting, they developed a configuration skin.  Then they installed and set up a LAMP server on team 4's LAMP box as a learning exercise for standardization.  On Monday, the LAMP team will setup and configure the other team's LAMP boxes.  After these primary drives are all configured, the backup teams will configure the backup drives.

In the untangle meeting, they worked on setting up the DNS, hostnames, and IP schemes.

The Zimbra team got together and installed Debian on one of the computers as a learning exercise and for standardization.  They will have to wait for the untangle team to set up the DNS before they can actually install Zimbra on the Debian box.  On Monday, they will install Debian on the rest of the computers.

The client team is going to end up using the class drives.  They will have an alternate configuration to use the static IPs when no DHCP is available.  On Monday, we should have the clients set up.
